Why use Natural & Organic cosmetics?

Organic, un-adulterated foods have formed the basis of our human diet through the ages. It is only in recent times that we have been subjected to countless man-made chemicals found in our food and in the environment. Chemical farming inputs and "factory farming" became popular in the middle of the last century as a way to maximize crop yields. Today, our world pays a large price for these practices, which have resulted in environmental and economic imbalances. What happens to the health of the animals, plants, micro-organisms, soil, oceans, and atmosphere, also affects human beings. There is no one who is immune to the effects of an unhealthy environment, no matter how much technology or wealth they may possess.

“A growing body of research shows that pesticides and other contaminants are more prevalent in the foods we eat, in our bodies, and in the environment than we thought. And studies show that by eating organic foods, you can reduce your exposure to the potential health risks associated with those chemicals." Consumer Reports (Feb. 2006)

In an increasingly polluted urban environment, where our water, air and food are contaminated, keeping healthy has become something of a challenge. Our exploding urban population is starting to show signs of the damage being done by rapidly changing lifestyles, poor diet and lack of exercise. When the food we eat is polluted, we carry that pollution in our bodies, some of it remains there, accumulates and eventually causes diseases. Obesity, diabetes and heart disease are on the rise.

Our children are particularly vulnerable to the dangers of agricultural toxins as they consume a higher percentage in relation to their size. The average child receives four times more exposure to at least eight widely used cancer causing pesticides found in food than the average adult does.

The foundation for healthy plants and animals is healthy soil. Organic farming practices help protect water quality, prevent soil erosion, maintain and enhance seed, crop and ecological biodiversity. Organic food is free from the highly toxic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and growth hormones used in intensive farming and they are also free of artificial colourings, flavourings, additives, sweeteners and the thousands of other unwanted and unnecessary chemicals used in food.

A study published by the Journal of Agricultural & Food Chemistry found that organic produce contains higher levels of disease-fighting antioxidants than conventional produce. They are safer and more nutritious because of the higher vitamin and mineral concentrations. Organic food is free from artificial additives that can cause osteoporosis, heart disease and hyperactivity. There is in fact, only food in organic food.

Why use Natural Cosmetics

For most of us the use of cosmetic and personal care products is an every day affair. We use creams, shampoos, lotions, happily unaware that they may contain a cocktail of chemicals and preservatives. Your skin is the largest eliminatory organ in the body and has the remarkable ability to absorb applied products, partially or completely, into the bloodstream. Up to 60% of what we put onto our skin may be absorbed into the bloodstream. This is good news if all the skin care products you are using are beneficial and free from chemicals and preservatives. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

According to "The Environmental Working Group":

· More than one-third of all personal care products contain
at least one ingredient linked to cancer.

· 57 percent contain "penetration enhancer" chemicals that
can drive other ingredients faster and deeper into the skin
to the blood vessels below.

· 70 percent of all products contain ingredients that may
contain harmful impurities such as known carcinogens,
according to FDA or industry reviews.

So, the more cosmetics you use on your skin, the more chemicals you are likely to absorb.

As more information becomes available on the impact of long term effects of chemicals and pesticides in the quality of our lives, more and more people are becoming concerned about the quality of the food they eat, the teas they drink and the cosmetics they use, and they are waking up to the fact that there are healthier alternatives available.

Our range of food, herbal infusions and cosmetics are grown and processed without the use of any pesticides, chemicals and preservatives.

For many farmers and consumers, organic represents the values that are most important to them. When you choose organic, you’re not only protecting your family’s health and standard of living, but supporting sustainable agriculture, clean air and water for future generations as well.

Esensual Aromatherapy

Ever wondered why Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Sensuality, used rose petals in her love den? Why Kamasutra heralds the use of itars and scents? Or for that matter, why our ancient Vedas dedicate the entire Vajrakaran Tantra to the use of aromatic oils?

Well, the reason is a little complicated and lies in one of our six senses!

Our sense of smell stimulates the nerve endings of the olfactory bulb, which lies at the back of the nose, which in turn stimulates a part of the brain called the limbic system that triggers our libido. The essential oils do magic and stimulate the pituitary gland, the master of endocrine gland, which controls hormone production. Inactiveness of pituitary gland can lead to low sex drive. So, the oils help keep it in an active state.

Aphrodite and Vatsyayan had cracked the secret way back. So, if your libido is letting you down, it's time to treat yourself to some sweet smells to get back in action.

Aromatherapy oils are a sensual way to fire up the libido. The molecules of oils are so small that they can mingle in the bloodstream rapidly and are carried to all parts of the body. Natural scents present in aroma oils bear a key importance when it comes to sexual attraction. Some scents are overpoweringly arousing aphrodisiacs for women.

The aromatic oils known for their aphrodisiac qualities are cinnamon, bergamot, cedarwood, chocolate, vanilla, lavender, roses and patchouli.

Aromatic oils that make for great aphrodisiacs are:

Ylang Ylang
Sexual prowess : Considered one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs, ylang ylang increases libido and attraction between lovers. It energises you, intensifies eroticism and is good for sexual experimentation.
Wanna try? Just place a cotton bud dipped in ylang ylang near your bed and witness its magic! (Yes, just one drop of ylan ylang is enough!)
Caution: Do not use too much of it, for before taking you into a state of euphoria, it can cause headache and nausea.

Rose otto
Sexual prowess: The oil works best for women, especially when it comes to balancing the hormones. It has a tonic effect on the reproductive organs, and can work best to boost sexuality.
Wanna try? Go ahead, pamper her. Give her a soothing love massage...

Jasmine
Sexual prowess: Jasmine enhances mood and adds to the energy levels. Traditionally, it is used to combat frigidity, impotence and premature ejaculation, thanks to its powerful erogenous effect.
Wanna try? Blend it with sandalwood, citrus oils and rose and go for an aromatic bath.

Caution: Women are advised not to use jasmine oil during pregnancy.

Aromatherapy is as old as the human civilization itself.Historically, it has been used to stimulate the intimacy, heal a relationship and as a tool of seduction.
Our sense of smell is linked to that primitive part of our brain that deals with memory and emotions. This is particularly true when it comes to the most intimate emotions, the strongest of desires and pure love and unbridled lust.

Here are a few examples, where the irresistible scents made all the difference:
Cleopatra:

It is said that Cleopatra used a special blend of rose, cardamom, and cinnamon to seduce Marc Anthony. How successful she was, we all know that.Adding fuel to her irresistible charms, it was the magic of these scents that made her a legend.
The Renaissance:

A time known for its rich history and culture of love, and rightly so.Young women in those days, used Basil to charm and bewitch potential lovers. It was the age when scent of the women ran supreme.
The Ancient Arab:

The scriptures found from the times of ancient Arab contain many manuals, which give advise on sexual matters. These ancient works revered Peppermint for its erotic qualities.
Romans:

During the times of the Great Roman Empire, women used Neroli to fragrance their gloves and bathing water. They believed that it gave them certain amount of control over their men.
The Age of Kamasutra:

The ancient Hindu texts mention certain practices to attain orgasmic pleasure.According to one such writing, people in those times smeared Sandalwood over their bodies while celebrating sexual ecstasy.

Therefore, it is obvious, aromatherapy has been in use for over 5000 years, from ancient Egypt to modern Europe, to entice the most primitive and the most basic human instinct.
